KUCHING: A man’s attempt to seal a hole in the wall beneath the roof of his house to prevent birds from nesting there ended with him falling to the ground and hurting himself.

The incident happened around noon yesterday when the 40-something man from Jalan Bintawa in Pending climbed onto the second storey of his house to seal the hole with a piece of zinc sheet.

While hammering the sheet over the hole, he lost his balance and plummeted to the ground and ended up fracturing his left shoulder.

The victim’s mother became aware of the incident after being alerted by a next-door neighbour and called for an ambulance to send him to Sarawak General Hospital.

She later told reporters that her son had intended to seal a hole in the wall beneath the roof of their house as birds had recently begun nesting there, with their incessant chirping a source of annoyance for the family.
