Creative Art Culture champion of traditional music contest

KUCHING: ‘Creative Art Culture’ emerged champion in the ‘Creative Traditional Music 2014’ contest when they impressed judges with their stunning performance and creativity yesterday.

The group also won the best creative award at the contest held at the Eastern Mall in Siburan.

Second place went to the Siburan Hybrid team while third and fourth places went to Bung Bratak Culture Group and Mathill Warriors respectively.

Bung Bratak Culture Group also won the best traditional title.

Guest-of-honour Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang graced the event which was jointly held by the council, Eastern Mall and Ga’ang Skuai Academy (GSA).

Organising chairman Councillor Munded Banat and GSA managing director Melvera Munded were also present.

Lo, who launched the function said such an event provided a platform for young people from various cultures to showcase their creativity and talent in playing musical instruments.

“Cultural heritage is very important for a race to progress. I am very pleased to witness this community event which is a very meaningful one,” he said.

He added such an event could also attract tourists and locals to Siburan area which is under MPP’s jurisdiction.
