10 nabbed in ‘Ops Cantas’ in city, 200 summonses issued

KUCHING: Police detained nine persons who were driving while under the influence of alcohol during an operation on Saturday night.

Another person was held for testing positive for drugs.

The ‘Ops Cantas’ was led by Kuching District Traffic and Public Order chief DSP Amihizam Abdul Shukor and it was participated by 10 officers and 132 personnel.

Roadblocks were set up at several places in the city, including at Jalan Tun Abd Rahman Yaakub, Jalan Sultan Tengah, Jalan Padungan and Jalan Central Timur.

About 200 summonses were issued during the operation for various traffic offences following inspection of 206 motorcycles and 83 cars.

Three motorcycles were seized, and two of them were believed to be stolen properties.
