106 arrested under Ops Cantas Khas

KOTA KINABALU: The police have arrested 106 individuals as of Saturday under Ops Cantas Khas since the Prevention of Crime Act (PCA) was enforced on April 2.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Dato’Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the 106 persons arrested were involved in various criminal activities, particularly gangsterism and organized crimes.

Khalid said the detainees also included Sabahans, but refused to divulge further information as the police would be‘picking up’more individuals in the Ops Cantas Khas.

He said the Ops Cantas Khas in Sabah would be focusing on gangsterism, organized crimes and crime of violence.

He added that the Ops Cantas Khas phase two would be strengthened following the gazetting of PCA on April 1 this year.

Khalid said this in a press conference after presenting the certificate of appointment to the Commandant of PVR Sabah contingent, Pole Lajumin @ Paul here yesterday. Paul was also promoted from assistant superintendent to superintendent at the event.
