MIRI: ILP Superfriends emerged champion after defeating Permai X in the 2nd Sarawak Bumiputera Open Badminton championship final held at Miri Industrial Training Institute (ILP) from April 18-20.
The four-member team walked away with RM 1,000.00 cash prize and the challenge trophy while runner-up Permai X took home with RM 600.00.
Losing semi-finalists ILP A and Bumi AU team each collected RM 200.00.
Assistant Director of ILP Miri Abdul Hafiz Hendi said the tournament attracted not only locals here but also players from as far as Perak, Kuala Lumpur, Pahang and Johor.
“We are overwhelmed with the support we received from all of the participants, who came all the way from the peninsular to show their support,” he said in his closing speech on Sunday evening.
A total of 16 teams took part in the three-day championship.
