PUTRAJAYA: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday delved into major issues facing the country, including education, security and national integration with the National Council of Professors (NCP).

It was the first NCP meeting with Muhyiddin, who is also Education Minister, since the NCP was named as a special programme under the Prime Minister’s Department last month.

Present were Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, NCC chairman Prof Emeritus Datuk Seri Dr Zakri Abdul Hamid, NCC vice-chairman Distinguished Prof Datuk Dr Shamsul Amri Baharuddin, and NCC cluster heads.

Zakri said Muhyiddin expressed his confidence in the NCP’s capability in assisting the government in resolving issues and negative perceptions.

The meeting is in line with the NCP’s role in addressing issues transcending ministries, sectors and disciplines, including security, national integration and cost of living. — Bernama
