KUCHING: Sinaran Ratu Balkis owned by Moksin Bujang was crowned ‘Sejijak River King’ at the 2014 Sejijak Regatta after dominating the 30-men paddlers competition at Kpg Sejijak yesterday.
The boat finished ahead of Gabungan Pemuda GP Kuching 2 and Gabungan Pemuda GP Kuching 1, both owned by Safudin Basri.
With the win, Moksin and team took home the RM3,500 cash prize and the Sejijak River King trophy.
Cash prizes for second and third place were RM2,000 and RM1,200 respectively.
When met after the competition, Moksin said his team will be back to defend their title next year.
In the 20-men VIP category, Yayasan Sarawak Putri Dang Balai B finished ahead of YB Datuk Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah’s boat and Raja Laut P194’s boat.
This year’s Sejijak Regatta also saw competition in the 7, 10, 15, 20 and 25-men categories.
Prizes were presented to winners by Fazzruddin Abdul Rahman, private secretary to Works Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof.
Also present at the regatta were Padawan Municipal Council chairman Lo Khere Chiang and the event joint organising chairman Dr Zaiedi Suhaili.
