Woman robbed by motorist after ‘accident’

KOTA KINABALU: A woman was robbed of her gold chain by the driver of a four-whee-drive vehicle which knocked her car at Jalan Kionsom, Inanam on Tuesday.

The victim, a 30-year-old clerk with a private company, was said to be heading to Bukit Padang, Luyang from Inanam when her Perodua Myvi car was hit from behind by a Hyundai four-whee-drive vehicle around 3.30pm.

Both drivers then alighted to check on their vehicles.

As the victim was making a phone call, believed to her employer, the Hyundai driver pushed her backward into her car and grabbed her RM2,000 gold chain before fleeing in his vehicle.

She lodged a police report immediately.

City police chief ACP Jauteh Dikun said acting on the report, the police managed to locate the Hyundai vehicle that was abandoned by the suspect at Jalan Shantung, Penampang around 7.30pm the same day.

“The police have confiscated the vehicle, believed to be used by the suspect.

“No arrest has been made and we are still investigating the case,” he said, adding that the police believed the Hyundai vehicle was stolen.

The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code.
