MIRI: The month-long Miri Fest 2014 expo will be set up at the car park area of Boulevard Shopping Complex next month.

Held as part of the Miri May Fest celebration and Gawai Dayak, the expo will run from May 16 to June 14.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, mayor Lawrence Lai said it is organised by the Lions Club of Zone 8 in collaboration with Miri City Council (MCC).

He also said the official launching ceremony of the expo would be on May 17 with various exciting programmes as well as activities had been planned for the day.

“During the launching ceremony, there will be a Green Expo by non-government organisations and a food fair by Miri City Council traders,” he said.

He added that there would also be traditional and cultural performances to entertain the crowd on that day.

Meanwhile, Johnson Wee, the spokesperson for the event from Lions Club of Miri Mandarin, said some 100 stalls would be set up at the expo.

“We are calling those interested to join the event by renting the stalls. We have stalls for trading, exhibiting, sales of food and drinks and there will also be car shows,” he said.

On the cost of rental, he said it varies according to size of the area.

“Registrations (to rent stalls) will be on a first-come first-served basis and bookings will only be confirmed upon receipt of payment in full.

“The registration form and rental payment must reach the organiser by May 10 and there is no refund for cancellation or non-attendance,” he said.
