8 SPDP divisions call for meeting to resolve ‘G4’ issue

MIRI: Eight SPDP divisions have passed a motion calling for a triennial general meeting (TGA) or extraordinary general meeting (EGA) to be held to thrash out the `G4’ issue.

The divisions clamouring for this meeting are Marudi, Bekenu, Batu Danau, Telang Usan, Senadin, Bukit Kota, Ba Kelalan and Bukit Sari.

They passed this motion during their respective divisional meeting recently.

In a joint press statement, they urged the party to hold either a TGA or EGA as soon as possible as they were unhappy with the party’s decision to accept the return of four members of the G5 recently.

They viewed the decision as unconstitutional.

The four who were readmitted into the party are assemblypersons Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran (Marudi), Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie (Tasik Biru), Rosey Yunus (Bekenu)and Paulus Palu Ngumbang (Batu Danau). Together with former Mas Gading MP Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe, they were known as the `G5’.

The statement added that all eight divisions had kept quiet about this issue all this while as they were complying with the gag order.

But they noted that although there was a gag order, several of the `president’s men’ had been talking to the press freely.

The statement claimed that party president Tan Sri William Mawan was well aware there was strong opposition to re-admit the four but he chose to make the decision without calling for a supreme council meeting.
