KUALA LUMPUR: Singer and composer Adam Ahmad, who made his mark in the 80s, died of a heart failure at the Ampang Hospital at midnight Wednesday night. He was 50.

His wife, Norliza Ayat, 46, said Adam was admitted to the hospital for low blood pressure and diabetes on May 1.

“He was placed at the intensive care unit for eight days due to lung infection before being transferred to a normal ward last Friday. The doctor said he died of a heart failure,” she added.

Adam became popular with the song ‘Kau Pergi Jua’ and as a composer, he won the Juara Lagu award twice through the song ‘Janji Manismu’ by singer Aishah in 1990 and ‘Teratai Layu di Tasik Madu’ by Fauziah Latiff in 1993.

Norliza said Adam had just composed songs for a singer from Brunei and a local.

Adam was buried at the Bukit Permai Muslim Cemetery, Ampang here yesterday morning. — Bernama
