KUCHING: State PKR chairman Baru Bian dismissed rumours that the three PKR elected representatives in Sarawak are joining Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras).

“We have considered many aspects even before we joined PKR and our decision still remains. We are still with Pakatan Rakyat and we are now preparing for the next elections with other Pakatan Rakyat parties.

“We are much better than before as we have started very early. It is a good sign. Our convictions are very clear and we will not join them just like that.

“BN has to change its policies before they can think of inviting us to join their fold. So far there is not much change in them so there is no basis for us to join them at all,” he told a press conference after a council meeting with other state Pakatan Rakyat members at DAP headquarters yesterday.

He was responding to former SPDP president Tan Sri William Mawan’s statement on Thursday that Teras was working to accommodate other assemblymen including PKR’s Baru (Ba kelalan), See Chee How (Batu Lintang) and Ali Biju (Krian).

Meanwhile, Baru also criticised Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu for making what he saw as a sweeping statement concerning PKR during the latter’s winding-up speech at the State Legislative Assembly on Thursday.

“He said we are not ‘politically, socially, religiously and morally correct’. It is obvious that 51 per cent of the population of Malaysia voted against BN, so it would seem BN is politically wrong. However, we should let the populace judge us whether we are politically, morally and socially correct or not,” he said.
