KUCHING: Sarawak U-17 team beat Pahang 4-3 in the  KPM League home match at the SMK Tabuan Jaya field yesterday.

Team coach Helearn Wilford believed Pahang could have been at the end of a thrashing had Sarawak not committed many unforced errors during the match.

“Our defenders look shaky and our goalkeeper looked complacent after we took the lead in the match. I hope this won’t happen again in the next match,” he commented.

Helearn praised his team saying all the players worked hard for the well-deserved victory.

“A victory is still a victory for us and we deserve to feel happy about it. I believe we will not create the same mistakes during the next match,” said Helearn told thesundaypost after the match.

“Our next opponent can be considered quite tough and there is no way that we can win if we played like we did just now (yesterday) against Pahang. The players know this too,” he noted.

Sarawak will travel to Kuala Lumpur next week to face the Bukit Jalil Sports School team in the KPM League competition which is national tournament for players of the U-14 and U-17 age group.

Only the Sarawak’s U-17 team played a match this week while the U-14 team tournament takes a two weeks break.
