People from all walks of life support the ‘Home of Love’ charity sales.

KUCHING: Hundreds of people turned up yesterday for the fundraising sales to build ‘Home of Love’ a centre to offer shelter and nursing care to the less fortunate and elderly homeless.

The venue was the Christian Ecumenical Worship Centre where 80 stalls were erected to sell a range of goods from food, drinks and salon services to free blood pressure reading.

The health-related booth was jointly set up by Normah Medical Specialist Centre to promote a healthy lifestyle among locals.

Initiated and undertaken by Kuching Green Ribbon Association, the design of Home of Love was said to have been approved by the State Planning Authority.

The association is in the midst of raising RM3 million to meet the project cost.

Honorary president of the association, Wong Tiong Hook called on the community to support charitable activities organised by the association for Home of Love.

He said the centre in Desa Wira would offer shelter and nursing care to the less fortunate and elderly homeless.

“I hope more people will come forward to support the setting up of Home of Love.”

Wong, who is also president of Kuching Foochow Association, said Home of Love was an effort to preserve a caring society.

According to organising chairman Ng Boon Nguan, Home of Love – designed with 20 rooms – is capable of accommodating up to 80 old folks.

Construction is expected to commence in eight months.

It will have an isolation room, a conference room and a room for guests or visitors.
