KUCHING: The family of Marcela Peter, a Form 3 student of SMK Matang Hilir who was reported missing since May 10, are relieved that the girl was found yesterday.

According to her father Peter Gatey, Marcela, 15, was found in a storeroom of a house in Kajang yesterday morning by police from Kajang Police Station.

She was found there after a man believed to be from Sarawak was arrested, he said.

“My daughter is still traumatised over the incident and is receiving treatment at Kajang Hospital,” the father said when contacted yesterday.

Peter said they had sought help from a shaman (bomoh) in their search for his daughter who had only RM4 pocket money with her after school that day.

“We believed that someone cast a spell on her to make her follow him. Only after we sought help from the bomoh could we communicate with her and she told us where she was.”

He said Marcela recognised them when they met in hospital. It was learnt that Marcela had contacted her cousins through WeChat and told them she was in Kuala Lumpur.

The family went to the airport where AirAsia confirmed that she had boarded a plane for Kuala Lumpur on May 13.

She did not return home after attending an extra class on May 10.

Her teacher had confirmed that she did attend the class.
