KOTA KINABALU: Graduates of the Gain Forlife Academy, a skills training institute, can fill the need for manpower in the hotel and retail business in Sabah, State Minister for Resource Development and Information Technology Datuk Siringan Gubat said today.

He said it was hoped that the academy would continue to upgrade the quality of its training programmes and introduce more programmes.

“In the drive to transform Malaysia into a high-income developed country, and given the private sector-led economic growth, I find that skills can provide the opportunity for a wide range of jobs.

“With the skills acquired, one can even be self-employed rather than depend on jobs,” he said at the launch of the graduation ceremony at the academy here.

The text of Siringan’s speech was delivered by the assistant minister, Datuk Hamisa Samat.

A total of 189 graduates received their certificates, in the fields of food and beverage, housekeeping as well as retail management. — BERNAMA
