Woman hurt after robber poke sharp object on her face

KOTA KINABALU: A 46-year-old businesswoman sustained a minor face injury after she was attacked by two robbers on a motorcycle near the Open University at Lintas Jaya Uptownship, Jalan Lintas, near here on Thursday.

City police chief, ACP Jauteh Dikun, said the incident took place after the victims had just withdrawn some money from an ATM machine and was walking back to her car at around 1 pm.

“Police investigation revealed that one of the robbers had tailed the victim while his accomplice waited nearby on a motorcycle. The robber then grabbed the woman’s handbag and poked her face with a sharp object when she tried to put up a fight. Both robbers then fled the scene on the motorcycle,” he said yesterday.

According to Jauteh, the woman received outpatient treatment at the hospital for the minor injury.

A manhunt has been mounted for the robbers and police have urged eyewitness to come forward to assist police in their investigation under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.
