LDP suspends 6 divisions pending restructuring

KOTA KINABALU: The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), a Barisan Nasional component party in Sabah yesterday announced the suspension of six of its divisions pending the restructuring of the said divisions.

LDP Secretary-General Yong Wui Chung said the suspended divisions were Tanjung Papat, led by former LDP President Datuk Liew Vui Keong, Sg Sibuga (Yap Mah Chun), Sekong (Michael David Tsen), Tungku (Datuk Kwan Wing Hung), Karambunai (Loretto S. Padua Jr) and Sulaman (Jackson Choi Sin).

“At the same time, it was also resolved that pending restructuring of the said divisions, Edward Wong Kon Fan be appointed as the coordinator for Tanjung Papat division, Lam Jin Tak (Sg Sibuga), Yong Wui Chung (Sekong), Major Chong Su Vun (Tungku), Peter Chong Su Leong (Karambunai and Sulaman),” Yong said in a statement issued here today.

According to Yong, the decision was made unanimously after lengthy discussion and deliberations by 34 out of 40 LDP’s Supreme Council members during the Supreme Council meeting at the party’s headquarters here yesterday.

Yong urged all party members in the said suspended divisions to stay calm in the transitional period, during which no party activity can be organised neither can any press statement be issued by any member as office bearer of the said divisions.

“Members are urged to adhere to the decision of the Supreme Council failing which disciplinary action may be taken to safeguard the image of the party,” Yong added.

Meanwhile, at the same meeting, upon consultation with the Supreme Council, LDP President Datuk Teo Chee Kang appointed Karamunting Assemblyman, Charles O Pang as a Supreme Council member pursuant to the Party Constitution. Charles O Pang was present at the meeting.

The party also resolved that Nancy Lim Guah Eng and Lau Kim Ling be appointed as Pantai Manis division chairperson and Sindumin division chairman respectively, who are entrusted to reorganise and reactivate the said divisions. — Bernama
