NUSAJAYA: The PAS support for the DAP candidate in the Teluk Intan by-election is not surprising despite her rejection of hudud law.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that PAS is no longer committed to the party’s principles.

“Parties under Pakatan Rakyat are in conflict over many things. This uneasy partnership is for their political survival,” he told reporters after visiting  Kota Iskandar, the Johor state administrative centre, here yesterday.

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had openly supported DAP candidate Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud who rejected PAS’ plan to implement hudud in Kelantan.

Earlier, Muhyiddin was briefed by the State Economic Planning Unit and Iskandar Region Development Authority on development in Johor.

He slammed the opposition for claiming that BN candidate Datuk Mah Siew Keong did not want to be appointed as a senator.

“Datuk Mah is more interested in working for the party and the Chinese community. We want him to win the by-election. Who knows, the prime minister may  appoint him to the Cabinet,” he added. — Bernama
