PSD wants civil servants to change way of working

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Public Service Department (PSD) wants the 1.5 million civil servants to change their way of working in line with the transformation of the public sector.

Its director-general, Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi Zainal said all civil servants should work as a team to solve problems without the hassle of bureaucracy.

“As customers of the public sector, the people should receive fast and efficient services from the delivery system.

“It’s our goal to reduce bureaucracy in various levels of the public service as required by the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS).

“That’s why we want to make the civil service people centric by going to the grassroots to explain government policies,” he told reporters after a programme with civil servants organised by Cuepacs, here yesterday.

Mohamad Zabidi hoped that the people centric approach of the civil service would be implemented by local authorities, the federal and the state governments.

“We want to make it easy for the people. If we close the door, it’s hard for the people to do things and this will raise problems.”

He said civil servants are encouraged to participate in whatever courses available to raise their level of competency. — Bernama
