MUKAH: Three schools in the Dalat constituency received incentive grants yesterday for their excellent academic achievements and better performance in the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR).

Minister of Welfare, Women and Family Development Datuk Fatimah Abdullah, who is Dalat assemblywoman, said the grants went to SK St Luke, Nanga Baoh; SK Baoh Ulu, Dalat and SK Nanga, Sikat in Mukah.

“The incentive grants will be used to build new multipurpose halls for the three schools under minor rural projects (MRPs),” she said during a Gawai celebration at Rumah Duah Entingi in Nanga Baoh, Dalat.

Meanwhile, Fatimah said over RM2.86 million in monthly welfare assistance has gone to 2,837 recipients in Mukah division from January to April this year.

“There are a total of 56,710 monthly welfare aid recipients in Sarawak with expenditure amounting to RM59,138,890,” she said.

“The assistance delivered by the government shows that the government is committed to helping the people in need in our state by reducing their burden. However, the people must also work hard to elevate their standard of living.”

The event also witnessed the handing over of duties from former headman Gulin Beti, who retired after serving for 36 years, to Duah.
