Ik Pahon given mandate to lead DBNA for another term

KUCHING: Permanent Secretary to the Tourism Ministry, Datu Ik Pahon Joyik, has been reelected to lead Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) for the next three years.

Ik Pahon won the seat uncontested during the DBNA’s triennial general assembly held at the association’s headquarters in Jalan Kumpang last Saturday.

His re-election meant that Ik Pahon will lead DBNA for the fourth consecutive term, thus making him one of the longest serving DBNA president.

The line-up for DBNA office bearers for the term 2014 – 2017 is a mixture of old and new faces filling up the posts.

Another senior civil servant deputy director of Agriculture Department Sarawak, Boniface Anat Litis, was elected as the new deputy president.

A lawyer Jubilant Austinway is the new secretary general, while his deputy is also a lawyer, Anga Soret @ John Lawrence.

A banker Asem Linkin is the new treasurer general, while former ordinary exco member Dr Clarence Jerry is the deputy.

The three posts of vice presidents saw Charlie Ungang re-elected, while the new faces are Joseph Jindy and Jimas Jihel.

University lecturer Dr Kismet Hong Ping was retained as one of the eight ordinary exco members.

The other seven ordinary exco members are Nancy Mongin, Yunos Apok, Paul Akiu Bandat, Captain Bernard Idit, Genot alias Jeannoth Sinel, James Nahar Goel and George Sikien Sunow.

The lineup is completed with Stephen Sundin and Joseph Beron retained as cultural officer and information officer respectively.

The TGA was attended by delegates and observers from DBNA’s 17 branches.

A lawyer Ani Solep acted as the returning officer.
