PORT DICKSON: The Public Works Department (JKR) has been asked to review existing regulations, procedures and work processes and take the necessary actions so as to ensure there is “zero” room for any malpractice.

Works Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof said besides this, JKR should also reduce weaknesses in management, streamline and strenghthen its information technology system to facilitate better filing and record keeping for effective continuous monitoring.

“I also wish to remind all JKR staff to have integrity and discharge their duties according to set procedures and guidelines to protect the good name of the department and ministry.

“We must understand prevention is better than cure, so the onus lies on us to learn from our experiences, good or bad, so that the transformation sought in JKR will be a success,” he said when opening the ministry’s senior officials annual meeting here yesterday. — Bernama
