KOTA KINABALU: Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Edward Yong Oui Fah has called for stronger support towards government’s people-friendly policies, especially those related to empowerment of children with disabilities.

He said continuous support from the people would allow for better policies and formulation of direct assistance to be channelled to the target groups.

Edward stressed that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government has always been committed and concerned towards the needs and interests of the less fortunate.

“I hope welfare organizations will be patient in waiting for allocations for upgrading or repair of their facilities. Hopefully, there will be good news in regard to assistance for welfare homes in the Budget to tabled this September,” he said after officiating at the Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PDK) grant presentation in Likas yesterday.

A monthly allowance of RM150 is provided to children with disabilities registered under the PDK programme.

Also present was Kota Kinabalu PDK chairman Ngo York Kong.
