Elderly woman relieved RM1,000 not stolen in break-in

The elderly woman looking for her valuables in her ransacked room.

SIBU: An elderly woman was relieved when she found her RM1,000 cash placed in a pocket of her trousers placed on her bed was not stolen following a break-in at her house at Lane 11, Oya Road here, yesterday.

The incident happened after she had left the house to buy groceries at 8.30am.

She arrived home three hours later only to find her house in a mess.

Rooms on the ground floor and first floor were ransacked.

“Luckily, the money I placed in my pants was not taken,” the woman said.

However, she claimed a gold ring and six bottles of liquor were missing.

She said she had just returned to town from Kuching on Friday.

Meanwhile, police recently recovered two stolen tyres of a trailer which were selling for half price.

The incident was uncovered when a heavy vehicle company personnel stumbled on half-price tyres.

Feeling suspicious, the person lodged a police report.

Acting on the report, police found the tyres to be stolen from a workshop at Lanang Road earlier.
