KOTA KINABALU: hitz 1-2-4 announcer Rica grew up as the youngest in a family of all girls.
“You can imagine how my dad copes with my mum, my three elder sisters and me. That’s a lot of estrogens in the house! But I dare say I do have the most patient dad on planet earth. One thing for sure, he has never shouted at me and my sisters nor has he ever laid a ‘rotan’ on us! True story!” said Rica.
“My mum once told me that my dad had a nickname back in high school, ‘Elvis’. He has some good pipes and he was always with his guitar serenading ‘chicks’, I think I must have picked up the passion to sing from him and he is also a good speaker, hence why I talk for a living now. Thanks dad,” she added.
Rica’s dad gave up life of climbing up the corporate ladder and opted to do something he believed in. He is now a happily retired pastor.
“To be honest I look up to my dad the most. He taught me to be grateful for everything, be honest and have integrity.
“To me, my dad is like Professor X from X-Men, so calm and so wise. He’ll be the first person to stand up for me. To all superhero dads out there, thank you so much. You are #awesome,” said Rica who wishes all daddies and future dads a very Happy Father’s Day.
