KUCHING: The State Health Department Team won the male category of the Civil Servants’ Social Welfare, Recreation and Sports Club (Maksak) Kuching-division futsal competition 2014 held last Saturday.
The Royal Malaysian Police Force (PDRM) Team B was the winner for the female category.
Organised by the Kuching Resident Office in collaboration with Public Works Department’s (JKR Kuching division) Social, Sports and Recreational Club (Sokanjaya), the event took place at the Coneli Futsal Stadium in Mile 7, Jalan Matang-Batu Kawa here.
State JKR director Zuraimi Sabki officiated at the opening of the competition while acting Kuching Resident Zamahari Haji Saidi graced the closing ceremony.
A total of 26 teams – 16 for men and 10 for women – from 21 clubs of various government departments and agencies participated in the competition.
The main objective of the competition was to select the winning teams to represent Kuching in the state-level competition to be held in Limbang in early August.
The event also gave the opportunity for civil servants to showcase their talents in sports while enhancing networking and friendship ties.
