KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas and Talent Corporation Malaysia Bhd (TalentCorp) have held a networking dinner in Doha, Qatar, to update Malaysian professionals in the Middle East on the oil and gas industry in Malaysia and the diverse career opportunities now available back home.

TalentCorp chief executive officer Johan Mahmood Merican said Malaysians in the Middle East are a sought after asset, particularly those in the oil and gas industry.

“As Malaysia aims to move up the value chain to realise the goal of being a high-income nation, it is imperative that we connect with the talent to highlight the opportunities in Malaysia and how they can contribute to the nation’s development,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The networking dinner gathered more than 100 Malaysian professionals in a session that explored the scope for collaboration and professional opportunities that are available in Malaysia as well as the latest updates on Malaysia’s Economic and Government Transformation Programmes.

The event is part of a Professional Networking and Recruitment Series planned under TalentCorp’s international Outreach and Engagement sessions in the Middle East.

After Doha, the outreach session would moved to Dubai on June 21.

TalentCorp’s Outreach and Engagement sessions creates a platform where returning Malaysians can interact with leading companies that need their skills, allowing employers to tap into a wider talent pool to meet their growing industry needs.

The sessions also help establish channels for Malaysians to contribute from abroad, and potentially initiate conversations that lead to new ideas for cross-border business and professional opportunities. — Bernama
