Campuses in Johor offer degrees from Southampton, Reading

KUALA LUMPUR: The University of Southampton and University of Reading will be holding a series of joint Information Days to introduce the various programmes, degrees and qualifications offered at their campuses in Johor.

A joint press release from Kuala Lumpur stated these universities are expanding and growing in the delivery of their world class programmes in Malaysia after setting up branch campuses here.

Currently located in EduCity@Iskandar Malaysia, the universities were invited by the Ministry of Higher Education to establish branch campuses for Engineering, Business & Law, Built Environment and Sciences – the first overseas branch campuses for both universities. Iskandar is the nation’s economic zone located in Nusajaya Johor, just minutes from Singapore.

The University of Southampton’s campus opened in October 2012 and offers premier undergraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical & Electronic Engineering, while University of Reading’s city campus opened in 2013 offering Foundation programmes as well as Business degrees.

The latter will be offering a full suite of courses ranging from foundation to doctoral studies when the new campus at EduCity@Iskandar is completed in September 2015.

University of Reading is in the top 100 of the world’s universities, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2013-14 and ranked 1st for Accounting and Finance by the Guardian University Guide 2015.

University of Southampton is currently ranked second for Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering by the Guardian University Guide 2015.

As the world’s top 200 universities, both the University of Reading and University of Southampton have attracted international students to their campuses in the UK for over 100 years and have a long association with Malaysia.

Both universities, no matter what level of study, draw on their long-established global reputation for research and innovative teaching as well as academic excellence.

In line with the upcoming September 2014 intake, University of Reading and University of Southampton are holding a series of joint Information Days in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kuching, Sibu, Miri and Kota Kinabalu to introduce the various programmes, degrees and qualifications offered at their campuses in Johor, Malaysia.

Visitors will have the opportunity to speak to academics, listen to talks, receive one to one counselling and make on-the-spot applications. The Information Days are designed to help prospective students and their families choose the right course and place to study as well as to introduce the new campuses and facilities available in EduCity@Iskandar.
