KUCHING: Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud conferred the Golden Jubilee Commemorative medals on 35 recipients during an investiture ceremony at Astana Negeri yesterday.
The Golden Jubilee Commemorative Medals were given in conjunction with the 50th Year of Sarawak’s Independence in Malaysia in 2013.
Heading the list of recipients was the late Datuk Amar Dunstan Endawie Enchana, who was awarded the Pingat Pengasas Perjuangan Kemerdekaan (PPK). The medal was received by his son Saa Dunstan Endawi.
Twenty-nine others received the Pingat Cemerlang Jubli Emas (PCE). They were Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem, Speaker Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; wife of former Head of State Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Norkiah, former deputy chief minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam, Minister of Land Development Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing, Minister of Local Government and Community Development Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, Minister of Social Development Tan Sri Dato Sri William Mawan Ikom and Minister of Housing and Tourism Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Other recipients include Minister of Infrastructure Development and Communications Dato Sri Michael Manyin and Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
Others include Minister of Welfare, Women and Family Development, Datuk Fatimah Abdullah, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Hamdan Sirat, State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, Assistant Minister of Tourism (Local Events and Products) Datuk Gramong Juna, corporate figures Tan Sri Datuk Amar Leo Moggie Irok and Tan Sri Datuk Amar Leonard Linggi Tun Jugah, former Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Tan Sri Datuk Amar Steve Shim Lip Kiong and Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohammed Jemuri Serjan, former State Secretaries Tan Sri Datuk Amar Bujang Mohamad Nor, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Hamid Bugo, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Dato Husain and Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot.
Also honoured were Datuk Amar Abdul Hamid Sepawi, Tan Sri Dato Sri Celestine Ujang Jilan, Tan Sri Dato Seri Law Hieng Ding, Tan Sri Dato Sri Mohd Effendi Norwawi, Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Leo Michael Toyad, Dato Sri Nyipa Killah@ Nyipa Bato and Datuk Simon Dembab Maja.
Meanwhile Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang, Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas; Tan Sri Dato Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui, Tan Sri Datuk Abang Abu Bakar Datu Bandar Abang Mustapha and Tan Sri Datuk Abang Ahmad Urai Datuk Hakim Abang Mohideen were unable to attend due to other commitments.
Among those present were the wife of the Head of State, Puan Sri Raghad Kurdi Taib, Adenan’s wife Puan Sri Dato Jamilah Anu and heads of government departments.
