SEREMBAN: Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the prime minister, yesterday visited the malnourished teenage boy who was found in a state of neglect, at the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital here.

Rosmah was welcomed at the hospital by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim, Deputy Minister Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, wife of Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datin Seri Raja Salbiah Tengku Nujumudin and Negeri Sembilan Health Department director Datuk Dr Zailan Adnan.

The boy, Muhammad Firdaus Dullah, 15, was found at a unit of the Taman Semarak Flats in Nilai recently.

Rosmah spent about 30 minutes with Firdaus and asked hospital authorities on the development in nursing the boy to health.

She presented Muhammad Firdaus with a pair of blue ‘baju Melayu’ and a songkok as well as a hamper of fruits.

Speaking to reporters later, Rosmah said Muhammad Firdaus was recovering and his condition was satisfactory.

“I was informed by the director of the hospital, Datuk Dr Jaafar Che Mat, that Muhammad Firdaus was eating and sleeping well, and that his weight had increased by 2.3 kg.

“God willing, he will be allowed to leave the hospital by the end of this week or next week and he will be handed over to the Negeri Sembilan Social Welfare Department,” she said.

She also said that members of the public who wanted to contribute to Muhammad Firdaus could do so through his Tabung Haji account (No. 010602000453616).

The account was proposed by Rosmah and several members of the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) to collect donations for Muhammad Firdaus.

According to Rohani, Muhammad Firdaus would be placed at the Taman Sinar Harapan Tunku Ampuan Najihah here after he left the hospital.

She said that his younger brother, Muhammad Haziq, seven, would also be placed in the children’s home.

“We are still trying to trace his father’s relatives,” she said.

Muhammad Firdaus was found in an emaciated condition and covered in his own faeces by the Negeri Sembilan Director of Immigration Faizal Fazri Othman when the department conducted a joint operation at the Taman Semarak flats on June 21. — Bernama
