KUALA LUMPUR: A blogger accused of two counts of insulting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong through her comments in Twitter would submit a representation to drop the charges.

Effi Nazrel Saharudin, represented by counsel Syaredzan Johan, told the Sessions Court here yesterday that the representation would be sent to the Attorney General’s Chambers this week, on grounds that there was no case against her.

The blogger allegedly committed the offences through two ‘10befiend’ twitter accounts, at a condominium in Taman Puncak Desa, Kepong near here at 11.21 am and 11.23 am on June 1, 2013.

She faces a maximum fine of RM5,000 or one year’s imprisonment, or both, if found guilty, under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588), punishable under sub-section 233(3) of the same Act.

Judge Zulqarnain Hassan set July 16 for case management.

Deputy public prosecutor Nor Zalizan Lazarous appeared for the prosecution.
