TOKYO: The Japanese edition of the graphic novel, ‘Kampung Boy’, by Datuk Mohd Nor Khalid or ‘Lat’ as he is popularly known, will be used as a teaching aid for students of Southeast Asian Studies at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS), the oldest institution of higher education in Japan.

The new edition of the translated ‘Kampung Boy’ was jointly published by the Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books (ITBM) in collaboration with TUFS Press in Tokyo, the company responsible for the marketing of the graphic novel in the land of the rising sun.

“It will be a very interesting teaching aid, because the world community in the last 50 years went through a similar lifestyle as portrayed in ‘Kampung Boy’.

“The culture seen in ‘Kampung Boy’ depicts living life that was close to nature and similar to that of most people in the world,” said Lat, here, yesterday. — Bernama
