Man’s body with head wounds found

KOTA KINABALU: The body of a man was found with head wounds about 50 meters inside a ravine by a foothill at Kampung Kayu Madang, Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) in Sepanggar here yesterday.

A villager discovered the body of the victim whose identity is still not known about 1.30pm. He was believed to have lost his balance before falling into the ravine and had been dead for a couple of days.

According to Jamal Saleh, 54, he and two of his granddaughters went to their farm to pick fruits when one of his granddaughters found the body.

“We were plucking some fruits from the tree when one of my granddaughters suddenly called me saying that there is a body inside some bushes.

“So I went to have a look and saw a body lying face up with head wounds.

“I immediately rushed home and informed the police of the discovery,” he said when met at the scene yesterday.

A team of police and forensic were at the scene to carry out investigation.

Meanwhile, city police chief Assistant Commissioner Jauteh Dikun yesterday confirmed the case and said police were still carrying out investigation.

“Initial police investigation believed the victim may have lost his footing and fell into the ravine.

“Police investigation also found no identification on the victim and police believed the victim may have been dead three or four days ago.

“At the moment, police have classified the case as sudden death as there was on criminal element found at the scene,” he said.

The body has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem and police urged anyone with information or have a lost relative to come forward to assist police in their investigation, said Jauteh.
