KUCHING: Harwood Timber Sdn Bhd provided new vests and caps to Sarawak Forest Department’s prevention and enforcement officers in a handover ceremony on July 3 at Executive Chairman of Harwood Timber Sdn Bhd Tan Sri Datuk Amar Bujang Mohd Nor’s office at Wisma PTBS.
Since the state Forestry Department completely took over the enforcement task from the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) in Feb 13, 2012, many achievements have been recorded by the Forest Department especially in the prevention of tax evasion. It is estimated that the state earns between RM500 to 700 million per year from its timber industry.
Briefly speaking at the ceremony, Sapuan Ahmad thanked the management team of Harwood Timber Sdn. Bhd. for their contributions which would benefit than 300 prevention and enforcement officers throughout Sarawak.
Also present to witness the handing over of this contribution was the Harwood Timber General Manager Abdul Adi Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir, Forestry Department Senior Assistant Director Prevention and Enforcement Division Jack Lim and senior officials of both agencies.
