KUCHING: More programmes and events will be organised to develop youth leadership skills through voluntary works, sports and charitable activities, said Ouryouth.my director Dato Patrick Liew.

He pointed out youths can be trained to be leaders by taking the lead in managing and organising such activities and programmes with their peers.

The knowledge and experience gained will be useful for the youths to develop themselves as future leaders be it in voluntary associations, or when working in public or corporate sectors or any venture in other fields, he enthused.

Liew mentioned this to the media after leading a delegation to pay a courtesy call on Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud at the Astana here recently.

The delegation comprised representatives from Lawn Tennis Association (SLTA), Pertubuhan Insurans Sarawak (PIS), Sarawak Entrepreneurs Association (SEA) and Ouryouth.my.

Liew, who is president of SLTA and PIS, and patron of SEA, said they were very happy to be given the honour of talking with the Head of State for an hour for exchange of ideas and to brief him on the latest updates regarding their activities.

He said the Head of State showed interest in the programmes by SLTA, PIS, SEA and Ouryouth.my, and had asked for these to be continued to guide the present generation to become good leaders and preserve the harmonious lifestyle of Sarawakians.

Among those present in the delegation were SLTA vice president Douglas Telajan and treasurer Kho Siak Khoi, PIS secretary Tommy Li and SEA chairman Simon Wong.
