PUTRAJAYA: A suspect has been remanded for six days in connection with the murder of deputy director-general of Customs Datuk Shaharuddin Ibrahim.

The remand order for the 20-year-old suspect was issued by the Putrajaya magistrates’ court, here yesterday.

Investigating Officer DSP Hamzah Buman said the suspect, a wireman, was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The suspect was previously remanded under Section 395/397 of Penal Code for armed robbery since June 24.

“Police are still conducting further investigation on this case,” he said.

Shaharuddin was gunned down as he was travelling to his office in Putrajaya in April last year.

In the incident, two men on a motorcycle fired three shots when the car carrying Shaharuddin stopped at a traffic intersection from Lebuh Sentosa to Lebuh Wawasan.

It is understood that continuation of remand for two others, who are prime suspects in the murder case, would be issued on Tuesday. — Bernama
