SIBU: A mother of three  concocted a story that she was kidnapped allegedly in an attempt to prevent her husband from finding out that she had an affair with another man.

The 30-year-old woman was said to have gone to the police station alone at 6am yesterday and told the police that four men had kidnapped her and a female friend several hours earlier.

She claimed the ‘kidnappers’ alighted from a van and grabbed her and her friend at about 11pm at Apollo Road, and sped off.

They then tied her wrists and covered her eyes and mouth, she said.

The woman added that the ‘kidnappers’ later dropped her off at Sibu Gateway, but they did not release her friend.

However, when police initiated investigation, they found the friend had not been abducted as claimed.

It is believed that the complainant had an affair with another man on Saturday night and did not return home.

To prevent her husband from suspecting her infidelity, she made up the ‘abduction’ story.

Even though there were no apparent marks on her wrists to suggest she was tied up, police took her to the hospital for a medical examination yesterday.

The woman later confessed she had lodged a false police report.
