Air Asia Flight AK 278 veers off runway

KUALA LUMPUR: Air Asia has confirmed that its Flight AK278 veered off the runway at 4pm yesterday while landing at the Brunei International Airport with 109 on board.

The airline, in a statement here said, the flight took off from Kuala Lumpur and was scheduled to land in Bandar Seri Begawan at 4pm, before it veered ‘slightly off’ the runway upon landing.

It said the 102 passengers and seven crew on board disembarked safely and there were no reports of injuries.

“Our ground service personnel are currently attending to the needs of all passengers concerned,” the statement said.

However, to identify the root cause of this incident, the airline is working with the relevant authorities and will provide further update when necessary, it said. —Bernama
