Baby boy’s body found at Tawau dump site

TAWAU: The body of a bay boy with its umbilical cord still attached was found at the Bukit Gemuk dump site, Bombalai Road yesterday morning.

District police chief ACP Awang Besar Dullah said the body was discovered by a worker who collects recyclable garbage at the site.

He said Abdula Rahaman Khamis was going through rubbish dumped at the site at 4am when he found the lifeless body inside a box.

Awang said the man called the police hotline about 11.40am informing that he had found an infant’s body inside a box wrapped in a black plastic bag together with another plastic bag containing his placenta.

He said the body found was complete, appeared as if it was just delivered and with no signs of any injuries.

No suspects have been detained and the body has been sent to the hospital for a post-mortem.

Awang appealed to the public to contact the police if they have any information on the baby as a reward is being offered.
