KUCHING: Maison Monica Hair and Beauty Academy provides a good training ground for well-rounded and skilful students.
Academy principal Monica Then said students have the chance to practise their make-up, hairstyling, costume design, modelling and other skills during charity shows and fundraising events held up to three times a year.
“Some 20 of our students participated in an image show during a beauty pageant held by the Federation of Kuching and Samarahan Divisions Chinese Associations Sarawak women’s section here last month,” she said.
The show was good training for the students to practise what they had learnt and experience the real working environment, she said.
The academy also sponsored the make-up and hairstyling for the contestants.
Then said for hairdressing students, the academy holds charity haircuts at schools and old folks homes for students to hone their hairstyling and communication skills.
Such activities, she said, also help to shape their character, allowing great growth.
Maison Monica Hair and Beauty Academy provides certificate, diploma and advanced diploma courses in collaboration with overseas beauty academies for hairdressing, beauty therapy, make-up and nail art.
