DAP seeking cheap publicity, say BN lawmakers

SIBU: DAP’s call for the adoption of the 10-Point Policy Reform is an attempt to claim credit by riding on the success of BN’s good policies and the chief minister’s noble intentions.

State BN secretary-general and Kemena assemblyman Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi suggested this as the opposition was running out of issues to harp on for political mileage.

“So what better thing to do than ride on our good policies and good intentions of our YAB CM and claim credit for their political gain.”

Dr Rundi told The Borneo Post this yesterday when asked to comment on DAP’s challenge to the chief minister to adopt the 10-Point Policy Reform.

State DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen, who made the call, said there must be policy reforms in the system. One of the 10 points called for reform to public transport.

The opposition party also called for a policy reform to build sufficient good quality 3-bedroom housing flats for middle and low income earners, as well as implement the rent-to-own policy.

PBB Supreme Council member Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah thought this was a publicity stunt by DAP in order to be seen as relevant in Sarawak politics, and as a prelude to the state election in two years’ time.

“Everyone knows our CM need not seek advice from the DAP ‘who are minnows in politics.

“Some were not even born when our CM was a state assemblyman.

“So this challenge to our CM to implement the 10-point reform is nothing more than to seek cheap publicity,” claimed Abdul Karim, who is Assistant Minister of Youth Development and Asajaya assemblyman.
