The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) also reminds the public not to create, store, buy, use and play illegally modified homemade fireworks. A fine of BND$250 will be imposed upon those who play fireworks at public places and during an inappropriate time.

Meanwhile, licensed fireworks vendors are also reminded to comply with the rules and regulations from the police authorities and it is forbidden to sell fireworks that have not been approved by the authority to be purchased by members of the public.

The Operation Department at the Royal Brunei Police Headquarters in Gadong has also displayed a list of the approved types of fireworks.

Towards the upcoming festive season of Hari Raya, the police remind the public especially children, to be careful and take precaution when setting off fireworks to avoid mishaps, and to make sure only approved fireworks are used, to play fireworks in an open and brightly-lit area and avoid playing in a small area around the residence or near high buildings as well as roadsides.

Everyone is also advised not to play fireworks during inappropriate times such as during azan (Islamic call to prayer) and midnights as this will disrupt the peace of the neighbourhood.

Mixing chemical or flash powder for improvised firework is also prohibited as it is a serious crime against the law similar to making homemade explosives.
