KUALA LUMPUR: The Form Three Assessment Examination or Pentaksiran Tingkatan Tiga (PT3) which replaces the Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) has received positive response since its implementation on July 1.

Deputy Education Minister Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching said parents, teachers and students sitting for the PT3 examination had also described it as an initiative that would further improve the quality of education in the country.

“At the initial stage, it was quite burdening for the teachers and students, but after the implementation, they found that the examination was fun and had benefitted the students in so many ways.

“Unlike before, the students are now more keen on using Internet to find information compared to only using text books as their source of reference,” she told reporters after launching the coffee table book titled ‘Wanita Hakka’ at the Putra World Trade Centre here yesterday.

PT3 began this year involving 63,000 Form 3 students nationwide with a case study instrument for History and Geography from July 1 to 18.

Oral tests for Bahasa Melayu and English would be held from Aug 6 to 29, while the written test for 11 other subjects, from Oct 12 to 17. — Bernama
