The arrest was made in an unnumbered double-storey wooden house located in Kampung Madinah in Batu Niah around 10.50am, acting on villagers’ report. The location is located at KM108 Miri-Bintulu road.

Miri police chief ACP Gan Tian Kee confirmed the arrests made.

“The suspects were aged 34, 31 and 35 years old… two from Sulawesi and a Bugis,” said Gan.

The case is being investigated under Section 8(a) of the Armed Act 1960. Gan added that during the arrests made, police also seized three bullets, apart from the Samurai sword and a home-made shotgun.

“All suspects have been brought to Miri central police station (CPS) to facilitate police investigation,” explained Gan.

However, Gan refused to comment on whether the suspects were involved in an assault case involving an Indonesian man in Bekenu recently.

According to sources, the house was used for processing drugs, with the Bugis as the mastermind and the weapons to safeguard any outside threat. The sources added that during the raid, all suspects were caught asleep.
