KOTA KINABALU: All teachers from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) local Chinese public schools are now required to submit a set of induction (teaching modules) to be compiled into a book.

State Education Director Datuk Jame Alip said the teaching modules compiled could be sold (for example for RM1 each) to 2,792 SJKC teachers in Sabah for use as a tool of reference during the teaching and learning  process.

The teaching modules could assist teachers in conducting their teaching process using more creative methods, Jame said during the closing ceremony of Data Coordination and Management Enhancement Workshop for SJKC Sabah school headmasters held here yesterday.

He said that data coordination is important to ease the decision making process in planning and distribution of allocations.

“Schools and students data should be updated from time to time to make the process of planning any matter more effective and efficient,” he added.

Jame also stated that workshops such as this would provide input which could assist teachers in school management.

Talks held during the workshop include talks on teacher transfers, student transfers, teacher labels, and e-Operasi by officers from the School Management Sector.

Head of Chinese Schools Unit of School Management Sector, Tham Yun Fook also took a slot to discuss on current issues in chinese school education.

The effort of the State Education Department in organizing the workshop showed that the department is concerned with the education development of Chinese Schools regardless of race, ethnics and religion.

“Therefore, I urge all school headmasters and teachers present to spread accurate information to the community including the School Management Board and Parent-Teacher Assocation as well as teachers in your respective schools.

“This is to expose the community not to fall for certain parties which claim that the Government is not concerned with the development and progress of education in Chinese Schools,” he said in his speech here yesterday.

Jame also said he hoped that the workshop attended by 83 SJKC school headmasters and teachers could be conducted annually so that teachers and school headmasters would be knowledgable in terms of school management.
