KOTA KINABALU: A Marine Police corporal was killed, while his colleague, a constable, was missing, believed to have been abducted,, in an ambush by a group of armed-men at a resort in Pulau Mabul, Semporna, last night.
Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) operations director Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun told Bernama today that the incident occurred at about 11.10 pm.
However, he said the identities of the two marine police personnel could not be revealed yet as their family members had yet to be informed.
He did not rule out the possibility of the criminals targeting on Malaysian security members following measures, including strict enforcement, by the Malaysian authorities in the country’s territorial waters.
“I want to remind members from all security agencies in the ESSCom area to be more careful and always to be prepared for any eventualities,” he added. – Bernama
