KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah United Chinese Chambers of Commerce (SUCCC) will form a special investigation committee headed by its president, Datuk Seri Panglima Gan Sau Wah, to compile a report on the Chinese chambers’ joint venture (JV) projects.

Gan is authorized to appoint four SUCCC members into the committee while three layers and two auditors will supervise the compilation of the ‘Joint Venture Investigation Report’ on the reforestation and agriculture projects.

The 39th management and supervisory committee of SUCCC agreed to form the special investigation committee at their ninth meeting here yesterday.

SUCCC secretary-general Datuk Ling Tiong Chai made the announcement in a press conference after the committee meeting.

He said the committee also resolved to hold SUCCC annual general meeting (AGM) and election in Labuan on July 31 this year.

A three-member committee will be established to oversee the election process. The election committee will be headed by Datuk Kenneth Yen, while its members include Yee That Hian and Raymond Lim. Chang Yu Ling will replace Yee or Lim if either one of them is absent during the election.

Ling said that the management and supervisory committee have also passed the motion to amend the SUCCC Constitution whereby SUCCC would keep 20 per cent of its income and distribute 80 per cent of the money equally among its 22 constituent members for educational and welfare purposes, after deducting the united chamber’s expenditures.

The committee also seeks to table a motion on the abolishment of the Cabotage Policy in the AGM brought up by Gan in The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia’s (ACCCIM) AGM, which if passed, SUCCC will prepare a memorandum to be submitted to the Prime Minister.
