KOTABARU, South Kalimantan: The Kotabaru government should publish Local Regulations governing the post-mining reclamation guarantee, because in general the Mining Permit holder has not provided a proportionate reclamation fund, Antaranews reported.

“In order not to disadvantage areas, local governments need to make `umbrella` the law that governs how much funding guarantees corresponding to reclaim land that has been mined,” said the expert staff of the Kotabaru Regent on Economics and Finance, H Akhmad Rivai, here on Monday.

Rivai explains, as a follow-up to Government Regulation No. 78 Year 2010 regarding Reclamation and Post-Mining, the IUP Exploration/Production Operations and IUPK Exploration/Production Operations, reclamation shall provide assurance both stages of exploration and production, in accordance with the determination of the amount of reclamation guarantee by Regent.

Reclamation Guarantee for exploration stage, said the former head of Mines and Energy Agency, entirely in the beginning, according to the determination of the exploration stage reclamation cost, and included in the work plan and budget for exploration and approved by the Regent.
