Photographers testify in murder case

SIBU: Hearing of the murder case which occurred on July 5 last year at a house in Pulau Li Hua saw two police photographers testifying at the High Court here yesterday.

They showed the court photographs they took at the crime scene and at the post-mortem.

In the dock was Jacob Tiang Lee Yee, 44, who is charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for causing the death of his wife Ling Yung Ming, daughter Christine Tiang Soon Ai and son Victor Tiang Soon Sheng between 6.20am and 9.50am.

He is also charged under Section 307 of the Penal Code for his attempt to cause death to another son Vincent Tiang Soon Thai at the same place, time and day.

The accused faces another charge under Section 309 of the Penal Code for attempted suicide.

In the examination-in-chief by senior federal counsel Yaacub Chik, Corporal Jerry Manda Minggat told the Court that at about 11.15am on July 8 last year, he took photographs during the post-mortem on the bodies of the three victims at the Sibu Hospital on the instruction of investigation officer ASP Yeoh Chun Shyan.

He said he could not remember how long the post-mortem took.

Apart from Dr Jamil Dolkadir (pathologist) who conducted the post-mortem, there were two lady doctors as well as three hospital attendants present, he recalled.

He said on July 9 last year, Yeoh instructed him to follow Inspector Heng Kok How to Bintulu with the accused for the purpose of taking photographs.

The other police photographer, Mohd Redhzuan, said at about 6pm on July 9 last year he was instructed by Yeoh to take photographs at the crime scene.

He said Inspector Shahidi and Vincent Tiang were present when he took photographs.

Upon cross-examination by defence counsel (DC) Ben Lau, Redhzuan said there were eight photographers in Sibu District Police Department, who shared three cameras.

DC: You mean that between all the photographers you have to share cameras, memory card and also a printer?

Redhzuan: Only sharing the cameras and printer and not the memory card.

He replied in affirmative that the photographs he took were in sequence – from outside the house and inside the house.
